A new exhibition by the Texas Jewish Arts Association (TJAA) has opened at the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas (JFGD) in Dallas, Texas. The show will run through November 30. The exhibition features a variety of our talented members’ artwork, both wall-hung work and sculptures.
The TJAA Executive Secretary, Kimberly Kort , and President, Nan Phillips, approached the JFGD last Spring, and proposed an art collaboration. Gary Wolff, Chief Operating Officer, embraced the idea and opportunity to have artwork displayed throughout the building and conference rooms. The gorgeous white walls of the newly renovated building are the perfect canvas to let our members’ artwork shine and be seen by the Jewish community and guests who visit and use the building.

By creating a rotating exhibition, Kort is providing on-going opportunities for Jewish artists to display and sell their work. New artwork will be installed every three months, bringing beauty and variety to the JFGD and community, and new opportunities for our member artists.
The first exhibition has been placed on the walls, but will be exclusively available for viewing online due to the ongoing safety measures the JFGD has implemented to keep everyone safe. Future exhibitions will rotate every three months inside the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, 7800 Northaven Road, Dallas, Texas 75230. |
In the exhibition “The Texas Jewish Arts Association/ Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas Exhibition #1” there are many different styles of artwork and sculptures:
Jordan Taub, a mixed media artist and educator, creates a beautiful Hamsa, titled ABBA. Taub describes the piece as a “A symbol of protection.”

Jan Ayers Friedman, painter and sculptor, brings a large watercolor and acrylic painting on archival paper. Friedman’s ‘Cherem’ refers to excommunication of a Jew, something almost unheard of, but done to Baruch Spinoza for his writings. This piece was exhibited in Amsterdam as part of the Jewish Art Salon’s “Spinoza- Marrano Of Reason” symposium.

Nan Phillips, President of the Texas Jewish Arts Association, glass sculptor and fused glass artist, creates artwork that is an extension and expression of the beauty of her deep-seated heritage. Nan displays a gold dichroic glass Seder plate where the light dances off the edges.
